The original pod system has one thing the newer JUUL 2 doesn't: strength. JUUL 2 pods are fixed at 18mg, while the classic 5% pod carries roughly 40mg of nicotine, about the same as a full pack of cigarettes. For pack-a-day smokers, that difference decides whether the switch actually sticks.
The chemistry is what made this possible in the first place. JUUL's e-liquid uses benzoic acid to convert nicotine into its salt form, which absorbs fast and stays smooth even at 5%, a concentration that would be painfully harsh in an ordinary freebase liquid. Vapes before JUUL typically ran between 1% and 2.4%; the nicotine salt formula is the invention the rest of the industry went on to copy.
The range also covers the opposite end. The Mint 15mg pod is the lightest option in our whole store, which makes the original system the only JUUL platform where you can choose your strength rather than accept a single fixed level.
