Can You Use JUUL Pods in a JUUL 2 Device?

Short answer: no. Original JUUL pods do not fit a JUUL 2 device, and JUUL 2 pods do not fit the original JUUL.

The two pods are a different physical size. The connection point on each device is built to match its own pod only.

JUUL 2 adds a second layer on top of that. Every JUUL 2 pod carries an authentication chip, and the device checks it before firing.

So even if an original pod could somehow be forced into a JUUL 2, the device wouldn't recognise it. It simply won't turn on.

Why the Pods Aren't Interchangeable

It comes down to two separate reasons, one physical and one electronic.

• Size. Original JUUL pods hold 0.7ml of e-liquid. JUUL 2 pods hold 1.2ml, about 70% more. That extra capacity means a physically bigger pod. It was never designed to slot into the older device.
• Authentication. JUUL 2 pods have a built-in chip that the device reads on contact. This is Juul Labs' way of blocking counterfeit and unauthorised pods. An original JUUL pod has no chip at all. The JUUL 2 device has nothing to authenticate, so it won't fire.

Both problems exist independently. Even solving one wouldn't solve the other.

What Each Device Actually Takes

The original JUUL device only accepts original JUUL pods. In the UAE, that means Virginia Tobacco, Menthol, or Mint, all from our JUUL Pods collection.

The JUUL 2 device only accepts JUUL 2 pods. That's a wider range, 13 flavours across tobacco, menthol, and fruit, all in our JUUL 2 Pods collection.

Neither system crosses into the other. Buying pods for the wrong device is the single most common mix-up we see.

How to Tell Which Device You Have

• Check the pod slot on top. If it's a simple flat opening with no visible chip contact, you likely have the original JUUL.
• JUUL 2 has a slightly different mouthpiece shape and a magnetic charging dock that's not identical to the original's.
• If you're still not sure, check the box your device came in. It will say either "JUUL" or "JUUL 2" clearly on the packaging.

Why This Matters Before You Order

Buying the wrong pods means they simply won't work when they arrive. That's the most common return request we get, and it's completely avoidable.

If you're restocking, match your pods to your existing device exactly. If you're buying your first JUUL, decide on the system first, then choose pods from that collection only.
